Scan & Save retailers are thriving despite news of the UK slipping into a technical recession following a 0.3% drop in GDP in the last quarter of 2023.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed this February a 0.3 per cent decline in gross domestic product (GDP) between October and December 2023, which followed on from a 0.1% drop in the previous quarter.
Contrary to market conditions, retailers working with Jisp to offer customers Scan & Save are seeing significant growth in their businesses, with the app being identified as delivering 20% growth in store turnover.
"As a convenience store owner, partnering with Jisp has been a game-changer for my business,”said Harmeet Singh, Nisa Local Convent Road, Ashford. “The discounts they provide not only attract more customers but have significantly boosted my turnover by nearly 20%. Their commitment to supporting small businesses is truly commendable."
Retailers have already seen returns of £900,000 in the year so far through Jisp’s Scan & Save, with the app encouraging repeat visits to stores through discounts that are available everyday of a promotional period.
“Since we joined Jisp our sales have shot up by about 15%, meaning extra profit. It was one of the best decisions we ever made,” said Jav Iqbal, Nisa Local Feltham Road,Ashford. “If you are willing to put the time and effort into Jisp then the rewards are amazing.”
Jisp’s top three performing stores are certainly reaping the rewards. Between them, Pak Supermarket, Nisa Colley Gate and Best One Avondale have racked up almost150,000 redemptions between them since the start of the year. That’s a lot of additional sales and margin enhancing top ups, with retailers receiving an extra 6p every time a voucher is tapped and redeemed against a product in their store.
With the country still in the grip of a cost-of-living crisis, the discount and loyalty rewards platform is helping many families weather the storm of increased household bills and diminishing grocery budgets.
Whereas the rewards on many loyalty schemes are capped at a certain amount, Jisp’s promise of 10p back on every product purchased through Scan & Save is not only sector leading, it’s allowing top redeemers to earn hundreds of extra pounds to spend in their local store, while also saving over £3,000 annually on groceries.
“With the country falling back into a recession and the cost-of-living crisis still raging on, we’re pleased to offer some respite to retailers and their customers,” said Esther Lawrence, Jisp’s retail director. “Scan & Save is helping retailers offer a genuinely rewarding loyalty package to their customers, which given how pinched budgets are currently is having the added benefit of keeping shoppers coming back more often.
“The discounts and rewards customers can earn exceed many offered through the nation’s supermarkets, and the footfall, sales and margin driving nature of the app means retailers reap the rewards as well. It’s a win-win scenario.”
